Frequently Asked Questions…
Are we certified organic? Currently 100% of our growers are certified organic, but we have not taken on certification at this point because we are still building the value chain from field to mill. Most mills are turn-key operations— grain is lab tested and cleaned in-house. We are a very small operation and contract out our cleaning and lab work. Our grain cleaner is not certified organic, although he handles our grain as if he were — he flushes the system, dumps the first few bushels of our grain if it follows conventional grain, and he does not apply chemicals. BUT we are one of his only customers working with organic growers, and so at this point it is not economically viable for him to take on certification just for one account. And because he is not certified, we cannot get certified.
We are certified kosher, though.
